Trust is earned. The Current Tribune is committed to accurate, fair, and independent journalism. This page sets out the standards our writers and editors follow.
Accuracy
We verify information before we publish. Where facts are still emerging, we say so clearly and update stories as we learn more. We attribute information to its source and avoid presenting speculation as fact.
Independence
Our newsroom operates independently of advertisers, sponsors, and political interests. Commercial partnerships never determine what we cover or how we cover it. Sponsored content, when published, is clearly labelled as such.
Fairness and balance
We strive to represent relevant perspectives fairly and to give people and organisations a reasonable opportunity to respond when they are the subject of critical reporting. Opinion and analysis are clearly distinguished from straight news reporting.
Sourcing
We prefer named, on-the-record sources. When we rely on anonymous sources, we do so only when the information is in the public interest and cannot be obtained another way, and we take steps to confirm its reliability.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we correct it promptly and transparently. If you spot an error, please tell us via our Contact page and we will review it. Material corrections are noted on the affected article.
Use of AI and technology
Where technology or automated tools assist in producing or editing content, human editors remain responsible for reviewing and approving what we publish. Editorial judgement always rests with our team.
Ownership and funding
The Current Tribune is an independent publication. We fund our journalism through advertising and reader support. Learn more about us.
